People Should Not Smoke
Do you smoke? Recently, the dangers and problems associated with smoking have become increasingly clear all over the world, and antismoking laws are becoming stricter and stricter. Consequently, the number of smokers is becoming smaller and smaller. According to a survey of our class, the percentage of smokers in this class is only 8%. Also, smoking manners, such as not smoking in public places and smoking only in smoking places are becoming more necessary. Statistics of our class show 100% of our classmates think that smokers need more smoking manners, moral, and rules. However, we can often see people who are smoking as we walk outside, even on university campuses, who don’t obey the smoking manners and rules. When I see the people like them, I am displeased and worry about the consequences of their actions. I believe that people shouldn’t smoke for three reasons.
The first reason not to smoke is that smokers cause harmful effects on other people. For example, second-hand smoke is more dangerous than first-hand smoke. Second-hand smoke is more likely to cause lung cancer than first-hand smoke. Also, smoking in public spaces make other people feel uncomfortable because almost all nonsmokers dislike the smell and smoke of tobacco. According to a survey of our class, 91% of nonsmokers are felt uncomfortable by smoke. In addition, JT, one of nonsmokers in our class, said, “After my father stopped smoking, my house’s air became much clear, so I feel comfortable now.” Finally, the children of smokers often see their parents smoking, so they will be more likely to smoke than the children of nonsmokers.
The fact that smoking exposes smokers to some serious risks is another reason that people shouldn’t smoke. As many people know, smokers have a heightened risk of getting cancer. Another example of why smoking isn’t a wise decision is smokers can’t exercise hard like nonsmokers because smoking makes people lose stamina to exercise, and it may cause smokers to grow fat. Aziz, one of smokers in our class, said to me, “Exercise makes me easy to be tired. For example, if I walk for only one hour, I will be tired.” In particular, some female smokers have a problem getting pregnant, and children in their bodies are sometimes negatively affected before they are born.
The final reason people shouldn’t smoke is smoking makes smokers waste much money. For instance, it is very hard to stop smoking for smokers because of their dependence on and addiction to nicotine, so many smokers pay money for tobacco forever. Aziz also said, “It’s really hard for me to stop smoking.” Also, the price of tobacco is increasing more and more, and smokers and their family suffer from the expenses of tobacco. Statistics data of our class prove that, 83% of countries represented in this class are increasing the price of tobacco. Moreover, smoking makes one’s walls and furniture dirty, and it sometimes causes dangerous fires. Walls, furniture, and houses are really expensive, so if these items are damaged, smokers and their families will waste too much money.
To summarize, smoking has no advantage but has many disadvantages. Not smoking doesn’t bother other people, doesn’t harm one’s health, and doesn’t waste money on tobacco. Because of these reasons, people shouldn’t smoke and should stop smoking even if it is hard and takes a long time to stop. I hope that the number of smokers will keep decreasing, and society will be more comfortable for everyone in the future.

Definition Paragraph

Japanese Style Christmas
Christmas Eve and Christmas, December 24th and 25th, are special days also in Japan, but these are a little different from the American style of celebrating. On these days in Japan, the parents who have small children prepare a delicious dinner and presents to give their children. This is similar to American style. However, there are some differences in this. For instance, many Japanese families eat Kentucky Fried Chicken and Christmas cake at a dinner on a Christmas, so many people reserve deep fried chickens and cakes at stores the day before Christmas. Also, these days are very important days for younger people such as university students and single people. In America, a lot of people spend these days with their family, but in Japan, most young people enjoy spending Christmas Eve or Christmas with their girlfriend or boyfriend. Because of this, they are very busy the day before Christmas. For example, men have to make a special date plan, reserve a high quality restaurant, and choose a present for their girlfriend, and women have to prepare fashionable clothing and some accessories for the special date and choose a present for their boyfriend. In particular, on the night of Christmas Eve, towns are filled with many couples. On the other hand, the younger people who don’t have a girlfriend or a boyfriend often feel miserable on these days because most of the stores and restaurants make Christmas fairs or events for couples or families. Some of them shut themself in a room, and others try to form groups of single people to avoid spending the special days alone. In conclusion, Christmas Eve and Christmas are celebrated in Japan as special days, but some of the customs for these days are a little different from American customs.

Similarities and Differences between Japanese and Saudi Arabian Educational Systems

Both Japan and Saudi Arabia are in Asia, but there are differences and similarities between their educational systems. For instance, regarding the time spent in school, they share two similarities. The first similarity is the length of the time that students are required to attend school before they enter a university. Japanese students need to attend school for twelve years. Similarly, Saudi Arabian students also attend for the same number of years before entering a university. The next similarity is how these twelve years are divided. Both Japanese and Saudi Arabian students attend elementary school for six years, junior high school for three years, and high school for three years. In addition, there are also two differences between their educational systems. First, both of these countries require that their students go to school five days per week, but the length of time that students stay at school per day is different. Japanese students stay at school for about nine hours per day, but the exact time is a little different for each school. On the other hand, Saudi Arabian students stay at school for eight hours per day, and it is the same for all schools. Next, the length of vacation is very different between the two countries. In Japan, there is one month and one week of summer vacation, about two weeks of winter vacation, and about two weeks of spring vacation from school. However, in Saudi Arabia, there are three and a half months of summer vacation, ten days of religious days, and ten days of spring break.      If you follow these steps, it will be very easy to drive a teacher crazy. The first step is to be noisy by doing things such as using a cellphone, knocking on the desk, or talking with friends with loud voices during class. For instance, if you suddenly shout, “Mom!” or something in a loud voice at a quiet time like during a test, it will be more effective. The second step is to do stupid things that cause trouble for others. For example, when your teacher asks the students a question, you could raise your hand and answer without actually having any ideas. Then the teacher will say, “Why did you raise your hand?” and become angry. In addition, some other good ideas are to do the wrong homework, hold a BBQ party in the classroom, and go to class after drinking too much. After that, the teacher will be so exasperated and she won`t be able to scold the students. The next step is to make the teacher nervous. For example, if you sleep a lot and snore loudly during class, the teacher will feel that her class is very boring. Moreover, tapping your foot while crossing your arms and scowling at the teacher during class makes the teacher lose her confidence to teach and be going nuts. The final step is to continue these behaviors. Continuing is the most important thing for success in your mission. At the end of these steps, you will drive your teacher crazy. In summary, bad behaviors result in driving teachers crazy. If you want to see a crazy teacher, try to follow these steps!
